Why I Practice
Physical Therapy

I love what I do!

There is nothing like the joy and gratitude I feel when my patient meets a major goal. I get to be alongside the progression from pain or poor function to relief and empowerment.

My joy stems, in part, from the experience of getting to connect with others deeply. It also comes from getting to witness our amazing abilities to reframe, repair, relearn, and recover. In the 30+ years that I have been a physical therapist, it never ceases to amaze me.

Functional Manual Therapy

I treat all types of orthopedic conditions for men and women with needs ranging from simple strains to multi-region conditions. I work with competitive mountain athletes as well as those with less demanding pursuits. Areas of my care include the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, foot, and ankle as well as the neck, spine, hip, and sacroiliac regions.

Functional Manual Therapy means that I begin by looking at the whole body to assess global movement patterns, then progress to manually treating specific joint or regional impairments as needed, and finally circle back to the global movement scale of functioning. This process allows for the identification of compensatory patterns and makes sure one can move and function well overall.

Pelvic Health
Physical Therapy

My pelvic health scope

includes women with pain, incontinence, prolapse, and dyspareunia. I also enjoy caring for the needs of pregnant women and postpartum mothers. I do not advise that postpartum women need to wait 6 weeks after delivery to be seen, as there is much to assess and support in the early weeks even while major healing is still occurring.

I have completed the highest level of training available through the American Physical Therapy Association, the CAPP-Pelvic Health Certification.  The certification requires multiple years of study, passing written and in-person practical exams, and passing a stringent board-reviewed citation-referenced 50+ page case study.
